No Gym? No Problem!
Your Full-Body At-Home Workout
You don’t need a gym—or a room full of expensive equipment—to get in an effective full-body workout.
For this workout, all you need is a mat, and a pair of dumbbells. If you have them available, keep both a lighter and heavier pair nearby. Different exercises may require different weights, and it’s always better to have options.
I also recommend downloading a free interval-timer app. You should be able to find one in your app store whether you use Android or Apple.
Once your timer is set, it will keep track of your work and rest periods so you can focus on your form instead of constantly watching the clock.
This workout incorporates cardio, lower-body strength, upper-body pushing and pulling, arms, and core work.
Complete one round for a shorter beginner-friendly workout,
or
challenge yourself with two rounds for the complete 45-minute version.
Remember: this is your body and your workout. Move at your own pace, take additional rest when you need it, and never sacrifice proper form just to move faster or lift heavier.
What You’ll Need
A mat
A sturdy chair (optional)
One pair of dumbbells
A lighter and heavier pair if available
A free interval-timer app
Water
Take additional rest as needed. Your total time may be slightly longer depending on your transitions and recovery.
Your Body. Your Pace.
Move at your own pace and always prioritize your form.
I’m here to send you the motivation and provide the guidance to help you achieve your goals—but you’re the one who has to do the hard work.
Challenge yourself but always exercise safely. Modify when you need to, rest when your body asks for it, and remember that completing the shorter workout is always better than doing nothing at all.
If you try this workout, let me know how it goes and which exercise challenged you the most!
The gym can feel intimidating, especially when you’re still learning how to use the equipment, practice proper form, and put together a workout that actually benefits you.
But remember:
no one walks into a gym already knowing everything.
You’re allowed to learn, take your time, and ask for help.
This is my go-to lower-body workout—one I regularly use for both myself and many of my clients.
Although equipment varies between gyms, most facilities will have these machines or something very similar. Before you begin, remember to warm up, move with control, and choose weights that allow you to maintain good form. Don’t rush or push yourself to progress faster than your body is ready for. No one expects you to be perfect! I hope to share this workout in a follow-along video someday. For now, save this guide, take it with you on your next leg day, and let me know what you think!
Your Leg-Day Checklist:
Warm up before lifting
Choose quality repetitions over heavier weight.
Move slowly and control every repetition.
Rest for up to two minutes between working sets.
Finish with a gentle cooldown or stretch.
Leave the gym feeling challenged—not rushed or defeated.
Try this workout during your next leg day and let me know how it goes! I would love to hear which exercise you enjoyed most and what kinds of workouts you’d like to see in future newsletters.
